Getting loads of website visitors, but no inquiries? These are 3 things lowering your conversion rates

Just because you have thousands of website visitors, doesn’t mean that you will have loads of high-quality leads and inquiries. Your traffic generation systems may be well set up, but if your landing page is all over the place, all that traffic will be wasted.

There is nothing more disappointing than spending thousands of dollars worth of ads on a website to find out that it does not convert. What a disaster!

A client of ours came to us with a finished (or what he thought was finished) website and wanted to start running ads right away. As we always do, we looked over his website and immediately told him that we wouldn’t be running ads before we fixed the landing page and optimized the text, design, and layouts for conversion.

He didn’t want to do that, as he thought the website was finished, so he went to another agency that ran ads for him right away. Fast forward 3 months, that same client came back crying to us and begged us to do anything, but get the ads converting. We did the changes we originally suggested, and surprise, surprise - the ads started converting!

3 things can limit the conversions of your website (not all of them have to do with your website):

  1. On-site optimization: are you using the right language? the tone of voice? is your layout optimal for action? do your CTAs stand out? does your design appeal to your customers? do you create enough urgency for them to take action?

  1. Ad campaign setup: this is more technical, but in a basic sense - you need to be targeting the right people. This can be done by demographic targeting and/or location targeting, but the most powerful of all will be re-targeting people who have interacted with your pages before.

  1. Your headlines: the headline is the most important part of any ad. It has to draw people’s attention. Craft the most interesting catchy headlines possible and you will see the improvement in your conversion rates both on-website and off-website.
